The Meyerhoff Art Workshop for children, teens and adults at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art

The visual dimension is an essential component of our daily life, through which we do not only shape our perception of reality, but also express our personal and cultural notions of the world. The Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff Art Education Center attempts to cultivate an appreciation of Fine Arts such as: painting, photography, prints, sculpture, pottery and Video Art, to name just a few.

The Meyerhoff Art Education Center is an extended family of approximately 1,500 pupils who arrive each week at the center in an attempt to enrich their emotional and spiritual world. In addition to school children, the Meyerhoff Art Education Center also fosters stimulating learning programs for adolescents, who are gifted in the arts, as well as for adults, who wish to have a first hand experience with the world of art.

The encounters of the children with artists during the various courses given at the center expose them to some of today's most pressing concerns in the Fine Arts.

The diverse learning methods are designed in a unique way, which underscores the importance of finding and preserving the individual's voice as s/he acquires new skills and tools in the various fields.

Another equally important aspect of the innovative educational programs is the guided visits to the various exhibitions held at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. These visits are often thought provoking, leading to heated discussion, which subsequently influence the emergence of distinct modes of self-expression.

The "Young Artist" Division
A program for pre-school children

A first hand experience in painting and sculpure will enable the children to develop their talents, imagination and creativity. The children's exposure to classical and contemporary oeuvres will serve as an invaluable inspirational source for them. The courses offered to small children include: painting, sculpture, as well as a joint parents-children course in painting and sculpture. The latter provides a unique opportunity for parents and children to interact creatively together in an especially supporting atmosphere.

A program for elementary children who are gifted in the arts

In addition to the more traditional courses, the Meyerhoff Art Education Center offers innovative courses for children who are gifted in the arts including: comics and computer-games courses, to name just a few.

The Youth Division
A Special program for teens who are gifted in the arts

This program is designed in congruence with the special needs of teenagers who excel in the arts. The program is divided into four divisions: the plastic arts, pottery and photography. The courses at these divisions are given at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels. The program's objective is to provide the participants with a basic understanding of the world of art, while emphasizing the importance of developing their special talents and artistic skills. The program also includes master classes for advanced students.

Workshops for adults

Studying the fine arts exposes one to the essential questions about life vis-'a-vis form and content. Accordingly, every individual is encouraged to follow one's natural inclination, and to select the medium, which suits him or her the most from the following: painting, sculpture, prints, photography, pottery etc. Professional instruction focuses on developing a personal artistic language.
