The Italian Friends of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (A.M.A.T.A.) chose to honor the renowned French journalist, Prof. Bernard-Henri Lévy as their 2009 Man of the Year in a festive Gala Dinner held at the magnificent Spazio Krizia in the presence of Ron Huldai, Mayor and Chairman of the Board of Governors and Prof. Mordechai Omer, Director and Chief Curator of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. During the evening, Prof. Lévy gave a most inspiring and electrifying message in which he expressed powerfully and eloquently his unequivocal support of Israel. His speech, along with the exhibition Miracolo Mediterraneo: La Città Sorta Dalla Sabbia organized by Vice-President Anna Sikos, left an indelible effect on all guests. Thanks to A.M.A.T.A's untiring efforts throughout the years, the evening succeeded in attracting distinguished guests from the local and international art scene as well as prominent businessmen, and received broad media coverage. This wonderful and prestigious event has helped the Museum in further broadening its group of friends in Italy.
