Nearly 300 guests attended the gala dinner and art auction of the American Friends of the Tel-Aviv Museum of Art (AFTAM) at the Plaza, New York. Joan and David Genser served as the Gala Chairmen and Dafna E. Schmerin was honorary chairman. AFTAM honored Mrs. Marian Goodman with the Visionary Award, and John Balsessari with the Artist of the Year Award. The Board demonstrated its belief in and support of AFTAM and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art by buying tables and journal ads and soliciting their friends to attend the Gala.
