The German Friends of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (GEFTAM) and its President, Samy Gleitman, organized an Art Road to Peace Benefit Art Auction in which works from both Israeli and Arab–Israeli artists were auctioned. Many distinguished guests attended the event including Dr. Charlotte Knobloch, head of the Jewish communities in Germany and Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, Bavarian minister of Science and Art. Furthermore, the German Friends organized various other events this year, two of which were an evening hosted by Dr. Wolfgang and Annette Schnell wherein Prof. Omer addressed friends of the Museum as well as a reception hosted at the house of Gabriele Quandt for the sponsoring of the New Museum building.
