The week of events kicked off on Thursday, 27 October 2011, with a cocktail reception in the Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Foyer, an exclusive preview of the flagship exhibition by Anselm Kiefer, Shevirat Ha-Kelim [Breaking of the Vessels], and a lecture by the artist himself. Kiefer’s exhibition was then opened in the Lilly & Yoel Moshe Elstein Multi-Purpose Gallery, attended by donors and friends of the Museum from Israel and abroad.
