One of the most fascinating and challenging topics
of portrait painting in the past 500 years is that of the
group portrait, in which the artist can demonstrate
sophisticated composition abilities, note positions and
gestures that express inner hierarchies between the
figures, and narrate a story. The display exhibits five
group portraits from the 17th century to the present.
